Future of China-US relations lies with People

Recently, Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a reply to a letter that was drafted by a U.S. youth education exchange delegation made up of teachers and students.

President Xi replied to the letter with the following message: that he was pleased to hear the delegation had a pleasant and rewarding journey in China, and that he appreciated their strong interest and sincere feelings for Chinese culture.

It was also noted that the hope for China–U.S. relations lies in the people, and that its future is reliant on the youth.

This is a very important subject, as relations between the two nations are entering a new stage of heightened rivalry. It is down to the people and future generations to bring forward new thinking to create common ground. This stands in contrast to current ruling elites, especially in the U.S., who are stuck in a bygone era of the Cold War.

It is only natural for younger generations not to be hindered by previous thinking and prejudicial thoughts. Therefore, it is very beneficial for people in both countries to participate in cultural exchanges to foster new ties and understanding, which would enhance cooperation on all fronts.
